The Opa Locka Development Project – HBJ Teams Up with Ari Hertz to Offer Affordable Housing
HBJ has been providing interested parties with reliable, state-of-the-art, and high-quality development projects to invest in. They aim to give these investors an opportunity to earn appealing revenues and develop affordable housing that helps low-income families find a forever home. Having amassed quite the experience in residential and commercial property development in Florida, HBJ is all set to spread its wings and introduce something new soon. Here’s a little peek into what the development company is set to achieve:
Opa Locka Development
HBJ Development finally got approval from Opa Locka's Commissioner for a mixed-use project. The affordable housing being built in Miami-Dade County will offer cozy apartments for specific people. The project is a collaboration between real estate developer Harry B. Joseph from Coral Springs, FL, and Ari Hertz, a real estate developer from Brooklyn, NY.
The project has been in the works for a while and was delayed due to the entitlement process. Harry worked tirelessly to collaborate with the P&Z department to get the property's right to develop. There were issues with the building's architectural design, parking, and density, which had to be approved by the government. It took about a year due to politics in the city’s municipality.
About the Opa Locka Project
HBJ calls itself the People’s Developer, and the Opa Locka project is and will be the standing truth of it. The development will be six stories high with 45 units, each measuring 1,200-1900 sqft. The units have been carefully designed to be spacious with a touch of moorish influence. The apartments are categorized as workforce housing and will be available for Amazon Distribution Center workers and as an offsite housing option for St. Thomas University students.
The property is located between Alibaba and West of Sesame Street, putting it just five minutes from the Amazon Distribution Center and around eleven minutes from St. Thomas University. It is right across the street from the Tri-Trail, allowing people to save on rent during these tough economic times.
Harry has worked hard with city officials on this project to provide a beautiful Moorish-inspired design known for its elaborate ornamentation with colorful plasterwork patterns and tilework, Arabic calligraphy, and floral-inspired motifs.
The design pays homage to developer Glenn H. Curtiss, who had an Arabian Fantasy that he brought to the city of Opa Locka in Miami, FL.
HBJ's plan to build a community deep in the heart of Opa Locka is proceeding with great speed. Now that it has the green light from the government, the development company is all set to turn its dream into a reality that will offer people a comfortable haven to set roots in.
